Bookbinding for Artists & Photographers, Goa

Join me for this introductory workshop in Goa. The first section is full.
The second section is still available for Feb 11 & 12, 2020.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn a range of binding structures. Starting with one-page folded structures to free up the minds and hands, we will move onto simple sewn structures, eventually combining these skills to make more complex structures. Finally, we will work on a multi-section binding to wrap up the final day. A talk on the history of the book with a focus on India will be given at the end of the first day.

The workshop will take place all day on the both days at Dayanita Singh's studio in Saligao.

This intimate look into India is for those who wish to see behind the scenes of various working artists and craftspeople. Augmenting visits to art and craft centers, museums, studio visits and workshops, participants will have a chance to observe traditional wood block carving and printing on cloth, experience in natural dyeing, a visit to a miniature painter's studio and engage in traditional as well as modern papermaking methods. Additionally, we will visit world renowned architectural treasures like the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort to immerse into the aesthetic landscape of India.
